2.2 Do you think it is best to translate word for word, or thought for thought?

Consider both sides of the matter. Do not forget that there are cases in which specific techniques are needed that would not have been normally used with general texts.

in my opinion having best translation means to express the right meaning ,or the purpose of the author ,examples like a speech that contains idioms ,if we translate from English to Albanian it is not possible to translate word for word, because english expression are not the same ,or doesn't exist in the albanian language,so we should find a proper expression in albania to express the same meaning.another case is that of religious text ,in my opinion they must be translated word for word ,because are names or expressions that can not be changed.another case is that of science texts that have to be translated word by word ,because the people of this field can understand them. so the translation need the tow concepts above.brikelda nanaj
according to me its the better way to translate thought by thought...because you get well the meaning....but there are some cases that even the translation word by word its important,ex, when it is a specific word and you have to look the dictionary

I think that it is best to translate thought for thought because the most important thing is that the reader must understand the meaning or the authors purpose, for ex. a phrase in English may be translated just with one word in Albanian. But are some cases that we are obliged to translate word for word, and the best thing to do i think is to translate it as it is and than to give the explanation of that word.

I think,it is better to find a balance between'word-for-word'and'thought-for-thought,and with this purpose to produce an accurrate translation suitable for public and private reading.

To translate in correct way I read all the sentence and than translate it,,,,The best way is to translate thought for thought,if we want having a right meaning,or the correct given meaning,,,translating word by word is like saying something that does not have any sense,,,
I think that we should translate thought for thought because in that way we are more clear to the people. When we translate word by word we loss the importance of what he or she is saying we dont understand the message that he want to transmit
