The analysis phase involves examination of sentence structure and of two kinds of linguistic meaning: referential and connotative. Take one example and use your own words to illustrate these two concepts.

Nida's two types of meaning are: 1-Referential meaning(denotation).
2-Conotative meaning(conotation). The first one deals with the words as signs or as symbols, so no matter if e word is used figuratively we just get it as a sign or symbol. The second deals with the emotional reaction of the reader, so some words are used in figurative way and need to be distinguished from literal meaning.

Nida change the mentality of translation.Not more word -for word but thought-for-thought.Also he saw the translation as a science that could be analysed systematically.we have;-Referential meaning.Deals with denotation,words as signs and symbols.
-Conotative meaning.Emotional response evoked in the hearer,emotional reaction.Is related with textual equivalent literal meaning.
